Getting to know the team – Bronwyn Walton
Why did you become a physiotherapist?
From what I remember, I wanted to do something that involved working with people and was keen on something ‘medical’. I didn’t fancy medicine or nursing which were the two careers suggested by career support at school so did some investigating and did some physio work experience . I was lucky enough to be accepted to study Physio in Edinburgh (despite my A-level results!) and have never regretted my career choice
Have you suffered major sports injury?
I have never had a ‘major injury’-worst being concussion. I did horse riding when I was younger and had numerous falls so not sure the accumulative effect of that has done my body any good.
Do you have a special interest at work?
I have particular interest and experience working with patients with lower back/pelvis dysfunction-whether traumatic or as a result of muscle imbalance/poor mechanics. I enjoy working with patients to achieve their end goal.
What do you like doing away from work?
I enjoy cooking, eating out, cinema, musical theatre, singing in a choir, supporting Falcon’s and Ireland at rugby, walking in beautiful Northumberland with friends and our dogs. I work P/T so spend some time volunteering at Stepney Bank stables. This is a terrific inner city stables which aims to make horses and riding accessible to all and does excellent work with young people in their local community.
What would you do if not physio?
Not really sure what I would have done as an alternative career-maybe something food/cooking related?
